What touched reality?
Sensor readings, documents, testimony, simulation, and inference are kept distinct. The authority of a claim travels with its provenance.
01 · The problem
Large archives are not the same thing as knowledge.
An intelligent system needs more than fluent retrieval. It must keep separate what was observed, what was reported, what was inferred, what remains unresolved, and what it is actually licensed to conclude.
01.2 · Composition
What actually follows?
Reasoning fails when boundaries are crossed without license: modalities strengthen, contexts collapse, levels mix, or metadata silently becomes substance.
01.3 · Uncertainty
What must still be asked?
A healthy system holds tension without resolving it prematurely. Missing support becomes a question and a repair target, not an invitation to invent closure.
02 · The architecture
Four conditions, and the precondition beneath them.
Any system that tells one thing from another must hold four conditions at once. Fail one and you get one of four error types, each already named by a different tradition. Corrupt the space all four presuppose, and you get the fifth.

The precondition, one level down. Not a fifth condition but the space the other four presuppose: that categories, licensed compositions, valid methods, and levels can be told apart at all. Mis-specify that space (force a many-dimensional field into a binary) and every distinction inside it is damaged. This is Contrast Frame Collapse: why a forced either/or is a deeper error than any rule misapplied inside a sound frame.

03 · Example record
The system should know not only what it holds, but how.
A claim carries its provenance, its status, and its open questions, so the difference between a reading and a report never quietly disappears.
