The Convergent Semantic Architecture
One Architecture.Five Structural Failure Modes.
The familiar fallacies look unrelated — equivocation, affirming the consequent, appeal to authority, category errors, false dilemmas. But beneath their surface forms, the Universal Fallacy Architecture finds five recurring places where reasoning loses its license: the axis, the operation, the method, the level, or the frame.
The pattern emerged from a cross-linguistic study of how sixteen languages encode distinctions and compose claims, then survived mapping against the traditional fallacy catalogue and engineering failures. The claim is not that every bad argument says the same thing — it is that apparently different failures repeatedly break at the same five structural boundaries.
One boundary, up close
“The manual says the valve is closed” is not “the valve is closed.”
“The valve was closed” is not “the valve is closed now.”
“This looks like a valve” is not “this is a valve.”
A modulation of a claim does not inherit the claim’s status — one instance of the larger rule of licensed composition: distinctions introduced into a claim cannot simply be erased downstream.

The Architecture
Four conditions — and the precondition beneath them.
Any system that tells one thing from another must hold four conditions at once. Fail one and you get one of four error types, each already named by a different tradition. Corrupt the space all four presuppose, and you get the fifth.

The precondition, one level down. Not a fifth condition but the space the other four presuppose — that categories, licensed compositions, valid methods, and levels can be told apart at all. Mis-specify that space (force a many-dimensional field into a binary) and every distinction inside it is damaged. This is Contrast Frame Collapse — why a forced either/or is a deeper error than any rule misapplied inside a sound frame.
